Activate Purpose After-School Program




After-school entrepreneurial education program introducing underserved youth ages 8-17 to the basics of entrepreneurship, economics, financial literacy, leadership skills, social responsibility, and traits of an entrepreneurial mindset, along with STEAM components as participants explore how science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics are all important in creating and innovating for businesses and jobs of the future. 

This multi-session program compliments curriculum taught during the regular school year and is meant to support Common Core testing. The curriculum adheres to the following national standards:

  • National Standards for Entrepreneurship Education
  • National Standards for Business Education
  • Jump$tart National Standards in K-12 Personal Finance Education
  • International Society for Technology in Education
  • Common Core State Standards


Curriculum is based on content from “Biz In A Boxx – The CEO” by Boxx Productions LLC. The following major topic areas are covered during the five weeks:

    Course Outcomes
  • Identify what entrepreneurship is and how it contributes to the local and/or global economy
  • Describe desired entrepreneurial personality traits
  • Describe the importance of communication and teamwork in business
  • Identify the various legal structures of a business
  • Basic understanding of financial management, including budgeting, checking writing,
    and reading financial reports
  • Basic understanding of raising capital and funding a business
  • Basic understanding of marketing
  • Creation of a 1-page business plan
  • Basic understanding of various uses of technology in business
